It has been a staple of the pop culture zeitgeist but after 20 seasons “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” will sadly be ending. The hit E! Network reality show that premiered in 2007 catapulted the family to stardom making the Kardashian-Jenner family a household name. Now, America’s royal family will say goodbye after 14 years.
It is hard to believe that the infamous family will no longer be sharing their lives with the world. It is truly the end of an era, and so much has changed over the years. In the early seasons of the show, the family gained notoriety through their connection to the O.J. Simpson murder trial, Kim’s sex tape with rapper Ray J, and Bruce Jenner’s 76’ Olympic gold medal. Now, each member is famous in their own right and there are 12 spin-off series to prove it. From the first episodes of “Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami” to the most recent “Flip It Like Disick” the Kar-Jenner clan is closing one door, but they will undoubtedly be in the spotlight for years to come.
The final season of “KUWTK,” will air in early 2021. In a joint statement posted on Instagram the famous family said, “After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and several spin-off shows, we’ve decided as a family to end this very special journey. We are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years — through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children. We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way.”
The shout out included the network that started it all. In response to the farewell post the E! networks added in a statement, “E! has been the home and extended family to the Kardashian-Jenners for what will be 14 years, featuring the lives of this empowering family. Along with all of you, we have enjoyed following the intimate moments the family so bravely shared by letting us into their daily lives. While it has been an absolute privilege and we will miss them wholeheartedly, we respect the family’s decision to live their lives without our cameras. It is not our final goodbye yet, we are excited to have the new season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians launching on September 17 with the final season airing in 2021. We thank the entire extended family and our production partners, Bunim Murray and Ryan Seacrest Productions for embarking on this global phenomenon together.”
